Alabama Rush!

Here at the University of Alabama, sorority recruitment is a huge deal. Being the biggest greek life in the nation doesn't come easy! Rush week is so much fun, and I am so excited for y'all to come this fall!! I've linked everything you need throughout the week in your rush bag, tips, my favorite outfit picks, as well as outfit inspiration for each round.

First up.. RUSH BAG!!! I've linked everything you'll need here. Remember that it is so hot in Alabama in August! You'll be sitting outside most of the time in the grass, so keep that in mind when choosing outfits.

Rounds:

Convocation

• This is basically a ceremony introducing you to greek life! You get to meet your group leader (Rho Chi) for the week, and meet the girls that you will be going through recruitment with. It gives you an introduction to what you are going to be a part of by the end of the week!

Open House

• This is an introduction to every sorority on campus. You watch videos about each house, to give you a little taste of all of the houses you will get to see in the next coming days! After this round, you rank which ones you liked the most, down to the least.

Philanthropy

• Philanthropy is the first round where you get to talk to active members! Yay! This round you get to learn all about their mission and why the sorority serves their specific philanthropy. For example, Tri Delt's is St. Jude! You wear a t-shirt given to you earlier in the week, with dressy shorts or a skirt. No denim! These rounds last for two days, and each is 30 minutes long. You then rank your favorite houses, as your list will go down to seven houses or less. Click the image below to shop!

Sisterhood

• The next round is sisterhood! This round is where you learn about the morals of the women in each chapter, their favorite sisterhood events, and get to know more about their personalities. You get to talk to more women to see if you think you will fit in with this chapter. These rounds also last two days, and are also 30 minutes long. You then rank your favorites and wait to hear back from the houses.

• For this round, you get to wear dresses with heels or wedges. Just make sure to keep it clean and classy! Click the image below to shop.

Preference

• Preference round is the last round of recruitment before bid day. It is a 45 minute round, where you really get to know each of your last two houses. You then rank them numbers 1 and 2, and wait to hear back! You typically wear your nicest dress for this round, with wedges or heels. Click the image below to shop.

Bid Day

THE BEST DAY OF THE WEEK!! BID DAY!!!! On bid day, you get to open your bids in the stadium!! Bid day is so so exciting. you get to see what sorority your rho chi leader is in, see where all of your friends end up, and RUN HOME!!!!! On bid day, wear an athletic outfit that you can put your bid day jersey on top of! This was what I wore. I love each and every one of you and cannot wait to see where you all end up!

Tips:

• Don't be nervous!!! You will end up where you are meant to be, I promise.

• Plan ahead! This week will be very busy, so plan all your outfits beforehand.

• After you visit each house, record a voice memo on your phone. List all the things you loved and didn't love about each one, so it'll be easier to rank them later!

• Be kind to everyone. A lot of girls come through recruitment with certain expectations that don't get met, so just be sweet to all the girls. You all are going through a lot!
